An interview with First People's Assembly of Victoria candidate (Metropolitan), Trevor Gallagher.
A Gunditjmara man standing as a candidate for the First People's Assembly of Victoria for the Metropolitan voting area, Mr. Trevor Gallagher is a man of firm opinions.
This is particularly evident on the issue of accountability of Assembly members to the Victorian Traditional owners they represent and who elected them to their position.
"For those people who put the candidates in there - they want to know! They want to know whether or not their voice is being heard. They want to know whether their views and their points come across strongly."
In commenting on what he believed was of particular importance to be incorporated within the yet-to-be-developed Treaty Framework, Mr. Gallagher spoke of those issues "that can only benefit our people."
"That's education. That's better health. I don't about Closing The Gap and whether that's working or not. But we can put things in place to make it work; and that can only come from the Assembly and the voice the Assembly will have for the People."
