Aunty Rieo Ellis Keeping Children Connected To Their Families & Culture With GMAR



Aunty Rieo Ellis she is a Waka Waka/Bundjilung Elder. She is a strong woman involved with injustice, sports and community. Aunty Rieo does some fantastic work for Grandmother Against Removals (GMAR). GMAR are a group of grandmothers that advocates against the forced removal of First Nations from their immediate and extended families. They support families in navigating the child protection system, lobby government and child protection agencies for improved outcomes for First Nations children and work for self-determination in child welfare. She yarns up with specialist journalist Hayley McAdam for the program ON TRACK discussing the work she does at GMAR and the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted them to support families during that time.
