“Because of her we Can” with Aunty Rosalie Kunoth Monks and Aunty Donna Odega

“Because of her we Can” was a joint project of IAS Strategy NAIDOC, City of Darebin community grants, CBF, Ged Kearney and 3KND. Aunty Rosalie Kunoth Monks an Aranda, Anmatyere elder with Aunty Donna Odegaard Larrakia spoke to the crowd gathered sharing their stories of growing up in country. This event was broadcast live on the 3KND network.




This event aims to celebrate the contributions of two high profile Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have shaped our nation. Rosalie Kunoth-Monks and Dr. Donna Odegaard have made, and continue to make, a considerable impact through their social activism and work in the community.



Join these two incredible women as they share stories of achieving success whilst overcoming racism, discrimination, sexism, and geographic location disadvantage.

This afternoon aims to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pride and culture, promote understanding with non-Indigenous Australians. It also aims to provide an opportunity for local residents, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls, to listen and engage with women who have been leaders in their field. 'Because of her we can' is a public forum that will be broadcast live across the 3KND station network.
