Dave Arden The Guitarist, Song-man, and Storyteller, Yarns with Gman On 3KND



David Arden is a Kokatha-Gunditjmara guitarist, songman, and storyteller with an impressive performing, touring and recording history. As an artist his extensive body of work provides insight into Aboriginal heritage and contemporary Aboriginal culture.

He has performed with Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Tiddas, Bart Willoughby, Mixed Relations and with members of Shane Howard, Paul Kelly, Not Drowning Waving and Hunters and Collectors and was a member and co Musical Director of The Black Arm Band.



David's impressive performing and touring background is complimented by his song writing. David co-produced with Shane Howard the project Tarerer- (Welcome To Country) a contemporary compilation showcasing the music of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous artists of South West Victoria (Gunditjmara/Kirrae-Wurrong), alongside a few local friends. The Tarerer CD is a cross-cultural initiative created to facilitate deeper understanding of contemporary Aboriginal life, along with local culture and history. Smith Street Dreaming: One Street. Many Mobs. One Community.

Smith Street Dreaming 2019 celebrates the footprint of Koorie history in Collingwood and Fitzroy, featuring some of the best established and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians and artists.


Now in its ninth year, this project was developed by the Smith Street Working Group to celebrate the relationships between people who live, work or visit Smith Street, and to foster understanding and respect for everyone. Featuring performances by MC Denise McGuiness, Dave Arden, Denice Hudson, Yung Warriors, Djirri Djirri Dance Group, Brothers in Arms, Meriki Hood, and Community Artists. This is a big-hearted and alcohol-free event. Come and enjoy some hospitality around the fire with hot drinks and light lunch provided.
