David Dini Believes that All Kids Should Have a Safe & Happy Childhood

Act For Kids is an Australian charity providing free therapy and support services to children and families who have experienced, or are at risk of child abuse and neglect. They have helped thousands of children and families for over 30 years. David Dini joined Act for Kids in 2019 after a lengthy career as a Police Officer. He holds qualifications in Management and Business, complemented by eleven years as a Commissioned Officer in the Queensland Police Service. David shares the Act for Kids vision that all kids have a safe and happy childhood free from abuse and neglect. He feels privileged to lead a team of professional and committed co-workers who share his passion for supporting children, young people and families.



The National Office for Child Safety continues to develop the National Strategy to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse, parents are encouraged to educate their children on consent and the correct anatomical language for all body parts. This comes as sex offenders were found to be less likely to act on a child if the child knew correct names for their body parts. Act For Kids have released some research that shows Children being left vulnerable as parents avoid teaching consent and bodily autonomy. Less 44% of parents, carers and grandparents have been open with their children about their body after school age, despite 89% of adults saying it should be the parent’ responsibility to educate them.
