Doctor Esme Bamblett Is The CEO of Aborigines Advancement League talks Treaty.


Doctor Esme Bamblett is the CEO Aborigines Advancement League, Senior Pastor Barak Christian Ministries, Victoria Police Indigenous Officers’ Chaplain and has a long and extensive career in Indigenous Affairs. Esme is a proud Bangerang and Wiradjuri woman.


She was born in Leighton, New South Wales, and grew up in Shepparton, Victoria. The Bangerang people are from the Murray Goulbourn area. The Wiradjuri People are the people of the three rivers – the Wambool (Macquarie), the Calare (Lachlan) and the Murrumbidgee. Some people believe they have lived in these lands and along these rivers for more than 40,000 years.


Esme says she is always reminded by her elders of their struggle to survive as a young women growing up seeing the effects of dispossession of country, language and culture gave her the ambition she needed to carry on the strength, the resilience and a purpose to fight for the right of Aboriginal people.
