Kenita, Leah and Nickiesha From MITS Yarn Up about Their Education

Students from the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) yarn up on 3KND's ON TRACK. Kenita, Leah and Nickiesha stay at the boarding houses at MITS which is based on Wurundjeri (Melbourne) they talk about how lockdown has affected their education and how they stayed connected to their culture during that time. The students were moved to Darwin to finish off the school term so that they could have the school holidays on their country with family. MITS staff have continued to keep in contact and support them from a distance through remote learning but they also setup a Darwin hub for the students. The staff including the Alumni House Manager Rhiannan Parker made it so that their curriculum was relatable to their culture and country which helped to keep them motived to learn.
