Leanne Brooke is a very proud Gunditjmara woman, is the General Manager of The Long Walk and Indigenous Affairs Advisor at the Essendon Football Club. She also works very hard to support community in the area of health and well-being. Leanne’s roles in the space are as a Director at Victorian Aboriginal Health Service, Co-Chair at Balit Narrum (Strong Spirit) Aboriginal Disability Network, and Chairperson Wandarra Aboriginal Corporation.
Balit Narrum (Strong Spirit) Aboriginal Disability Network, is an Aboriginal disability network that supports Aboriginal family and individual needs within the disability service system including helping clients.
Wandarra is an Aboriginal community organisation based in Broadmeadows and is supporting Mob in the Hume area.
Leanne is passionate about caring for community, with a deep compassion and care for First Peoples with a disability. In this podcast Leanne talks with Natasha Ferre about some of the great work that Balit Narrum and Wandarra are doing to support mob through COVID 19 and beyond . Leanne also discusses what areas of mobs health and wellbeing need more support including changes to respite care and NDIS.
