Lena-Jean Charles Loffel is training with the Indigenous Marathon Project

Lena-Jean Charles-Loffel is a Yorta Yorta and Gunai Kurnai woman. Lena has wanted to take part in the Indigenous Marathon Project (IMP) for the past three years, ever since she travelled to New York City to watch her best friend’s Sister cross the finish line of the marathon as an IMP graduate in 2016. Lena joins Gman on Big Brekkie about IMP and finding out about her acceptance to train with this amazing team.

She started her own running journey and successfully completed a half marathon last year. Lena has tried out for IMP the last two years and was unsuccessful but was excited to make the squad on her third try. “Over the past three years I have learnt a lot about myself and who I am as a person just by the challenges I have faced with running,” she says. Lena is excited to take on the next challenge in my running journey and can't wait to continue creating strong and healthy narratives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
