3KND today visit the Murnong First Peoples' Gathering Place in Glen Iris
It was an exciting times and a Deadly start for the new Community Cultural Centre of the Inner East.
The Murnong First Peoples' Gathering Place launched with an event celebrating NAIDOC Week with a Mob Only Day Lunch.
A Smoking Ceremony from Uncle Shane Charles and a Welcome to Country from Aunty Zeta Thomson started the day.
Uncle Shane Charles add to the mob's enjoyment with a Didgeridoo healing and music performance.
Uncle Glenn followed up speaking about the vision for the Gathering Place. Presented Aunty Zeta and Uncle Shane with special scarves that were personally made and 3KND Chairperson, Grant Hansen with the G-Man was presented with a special designed Message Stick
Finally, everyone relaxed, enjoyed the company of local mob, yarned, and explored the Wominjeka Garden. Viewed the current exhibition in the Gallery Space and Lunch by the Bunjil Catering was delicious.
Respecting and Acknowledging the Elders and NAIDOC was a great day and 3KND likes to thank Murnong First Peoples' Gathering Place for this.
