Scott McCartney is the Chief Executive Officer, Kinaway Chamber of Commerce Victoria and a proud Aboriginal man, a descendant from the Wotjobaluk people in the Western Region of Victoria. He and his family have relocated back home to Victoria after spending the last 10 years in Western Australia. Scott is driven by the need to develop the Aboriginal business sector in Victoria. Scott says “The path to true self-determination is ensuring that as Aboriginal people we participate at all levels in the economy”.
Scott has had extensive experience in start-up and small to medium enterprise development. His goal at Kinaway is to not only maintain the momentum of the Chamber but deliver on current and future projects as well as strategic objectives. His skills involving establishment and growth of strong partnerships, problem solving, and development of team culture makes him the ideal selection to leading the team at Kinaway!
Kinaway is from the Gunnai language meaning ‘exchange.’ Kinaway Victorian Chamber of Commerce is committed in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business owners, who contribute and enhance the Victorian economy. Kinaway fosters and develops partnerships with government, corporate organisations and academic institutions to build procurement opportunities and facilitate support to Aboriginal businesses.
Celebrating Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses Kinaway Victorian Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce announced the shortlist for the 2022 Kinaway Business Awards, which includes 58 finalists in 12 award categories.
The Kinaway Business Awards recognise Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses who have shown strength, resilience, and innovation over the past 12 months.
Kinaway CEO Scott McCartney said “Our Awards are a moment to champion our Indigenous business ambassadors across Victoria. We will celebrate and acknowledge their hard work, commitment and success as well as our partners who have demonstrated their commitment to working with our members.”
The Awards are judged by a group of business peers, including Kinaway Board members and Kinaway employees. Award recipients will be announced at a black-tie event at Marvel Stadium on Friday, 18 November 2022. Hosted by television presenter Luke Carroll and comedian Sean Choolburra, the Award event will welcome special music guest, ARIA-nominated musician, and songwriter Thelma Plum.
