VAHS Hosts NAIDOC March 2022

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) once again hosted this years NAIDOC March from the VAHS site to Federation Square.

Not even the cold weather, rain or wind stopped mob and supporters gathering to walk the walk for NAIDOC 2022. This years NAIDOC theme is, “Get Up – Stand Up – Show Up”. Community did just that in strong numbers with families, Elders and Indigenous organisations flowing through the tents and purchasing NAIDOC merchandise which sold out quickly.

The long lines of mob enjoying the free coffee and yummy muffins brought smiles across their faces with laughter filling the tents and flowing outside. Smoking ceremony, speeches and flags flying saw family catching up after more than 2yrs of lockdown. Treaty, Yoorrook, Hous of Dizzy, Aunty Georgina, Vic NAIDOC and VAHS were all selling merchandise to appreciative mob.

Radio 3KND broadcast throughout the day live from VAHS capturing the moment, interviewing elders locals and families throughout the day.
